Formula
Each 500ml vial contains:
| Colistin | 37.5mg/L |
| Vancomycin | 1.5mg/L |
| Amphotericin B | 1mg/L |
| Trimethoprim | 2.5mg/L |
Procedure
To reconstitute the contents of each vial, aseptically add 2ml of Sterile Distilled Water. Close the vial and gently agitate to complete reconstitution. Avoid frothing and the resulting solution should be pale straw/yellow.
Add the contents of the vial to 500ml of sterile base medium of choice (GC Agar Base is recommended) prepared according to the manufacturer’s instructions and allowed to cool to 45 – 50°C. Mix gently but thoroughly and pour aseptically into sterile Petri dishes. Overnight storage at 2 – 8°C is recommended to allow equilibration of the supplement within the medium. For extended storage at 2 – 8°C plates should be contained in sealed plastic sleeves or similar protective packaging.
