Cornmeal Agar is recommended as a medium suitable for detection of chlamydospore production by Candida albicans. Following incubation microscopic examination of Candida albicans shows typical chlamydospore production that is accepted as a definitive criterion for the identification of the species. It is also suitable for the isolation of fungi as well as a maintenance medium for stock cultures.
