  • This is a general-purpose complex medium for the cultivation and isolation of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. The base medium, Tryptone Soya Agar (Soybean-Casein Digest agar), conforms to the Harmonized United States Pharmacopoeia (USP), European Pharmacopoeia (EP), and Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP).The medium can be incubated under aerobic or anaerobic conditions for sterility testing, air sampling and other areas of bacteriological investigation. This particular product is triple wrapped and terminally sterilised by Gamma irradiation. Dose Range: 8.0 kGy - 15.0kGy
  • A selective medium for the isolation of Staphylococcus aureus. The high level of Sodium Chloride inhibits most other organisms and as most Staphylococcus aureus ferment Mannitol the inclusion of Phenol Red indicator gives rise to yellow colonies. This formulation complies with the requirements of the Harmonised USP/EP/JP. NB: Some strains of coagulase negative staphylococci can give rise to false positive results on this medium It is necessary therefore to confirm the identity of Staphylococcus aureus by other confirmatory tests (e.g. Coagulase test, Latex test etc.)
  • Plate Count Agar (APHA) (Standard Methods Agar, Tryptone Glucose Yeast Agar) This medium is formulated to A.P.H.A. specification and intended for use in food, dairy and water bacteriology to perform Total Viable Counts. The agar is of high gel strength and is therefore suitable for use in pour plate techniques as well as surface inoculation.
  • This medium is recommended for the detection and enumeration of yeasts and moulds in food and dairy products. It can also be used for the cultivation of fungi although with the prolonged incubation necessary cultures may become overgrown by bacteria. The low pH (5.6) suppresses the growth of most bacteria and the low mineral content ensures good pigment production by fungi where appropriate.
  • Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar (VRGBA) (USP) Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar is a selective medium for the isolation and enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae in food products. It is a modification of the original Violet Red Bile Agar (PP1150) with the Lactose being replaced with Glucose and conforms to the requirements of the Harmonised USP/EP/JP. As all Enterobacteriaceae ferment glucose it allows for a wider range of organisms to be detected. The medium is made selective by the inclusion of Bile Salts and Crystal Violet to inhibit gram-positive and other non-enteric organisms.
  • R2A medium was developed to determine the bacterial count including heterotrophic bacteria in potable waters during treatment and distribution. This medium has a low nutritional content and therefore requires extended incubation times. It is recommended by the Environmental Agency, Methods for the Examination of Waters and Associated Materials, and Standard Methods for the Enumeration of Water and Wastewater.
  • Tryptone Soy Agar is a nutritious general-purpose medium supporting a wide range of organisms, this formulation has been modified by the addition of Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80) and Lecithin. It is recommended for use in environmental testing, particularly in areas subjected to surface disinfection, and conforms to the requirements of the British Pharmacopoeia for sterility testing of appropriate pharmaceutical products. Lecithin and Polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) inactivate surface disinfectants (Lecithin neutralises quaternary ammonium compounds and Tween 80 neutralises phenols, formalin, hexachlorophene and in combination with the Lecithin ethanol).
  • Dey & Engley Agar has the ability to neutralise antimicrobial chemicals and is used for environmental sampling for the detection and enumeration of microorganisms present on the surface of sanitary importance. In this formulation the agar has been modified by the addition of Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80) and Lecithin. It is recommended for use in environmental testing, particularly in areas subjected to surface disinfection, and conforms to the requirements of the British Pharmacopeia for sterility testing of appropriate pharmaceutical products. Lecithin and Polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) inactivate surface disinfectants (Lecithin neutralises quaternary ammonium compounds and Tween 80 neutralises phenols, formalin, hexachlorophene and in combination with the Lecithin ethanol).
  • This is a selective medium primarily for the isolation and differentiation of coliforms and non-lactose fermenting Gram –ve bacterial species from clinical, dairy, industrial and water samples. This media differs from the original MacConkey formulation with the addition of an extra 0.5% Sodium chloride, an altered Bile salt mix and the neutral red concentration was also modified. This enhanced the effect of inhibiting Gram +ve and other non-enteric bacterial species. This medium conforms to the requirements of the Harmonised USP/EP/JP.
  • This is a medium for determining the mutagenicity of a chemical reagent using the Ames Test. A histidine requiring strain (His -) of Salmonella typhimurium is inoculated into a mixture of salt agar, histidine solution and the test reagent, which is mixed and then used to overlay the media. Following incubation if the test reagent is mutagenic it will reverse the His- phenotype allowing growth to occur at a higher level than the control.
  • LB media formulations have been an industry standard for the cultivation of Escherichia coli as far back as the 1950s. These media have been widely used in molecular microbiology applications for the preparation of plasmid DNA and recombinant proteins. Vitamins and certain trace elements are provided by yeast extract. Sodium ions for transport and osmotic balance are provided by sodium chloride. Tryptone is used to provide essential amino acids to the growing bacteria.
  • LB media formulations have been an industry standard for the cultivation of Escherichia coli as far back as the 1950s.These media have been widely used in molecular microbiology applications for the preparation of plasmid DNA and recombinant proteins. This media has the addition of Kanamycin at 0.05gms/L for use with Kanamycin resistant strains and cells harbouring selection plasmids containing the Kanamycin resistance gene.Peptides and peptones are provided by tryptone. Vitamins and certain trace elements are provided by yeast extract. Sodium ions for transport and osmotic balance are provided by sodium chloride. Tryptone is used to provide essential amino acids to the growing bacteria, while the yeast extract is used to provide a plethora of organic compounds helpful for bacterial growth.
  • Letheen Agar (Modified) intended for use in the isolation of microorganisms from cosmetics. Total neutralisation of disinfectants is critical as disinfectant residues can result in a false negative result. Sodium Bisulfite, Lecithin and Polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) inactivate quaternary ammonium compounds , Tween 80 neutralises phenols, formalin, hexachlorophene and in combination with the Lecithin ethanol.
  • This is a general-purpose complex medium for cultivation and isolation of fastidious bacteria, yeasts and moulds. The formulation is based on the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP Medium II) and European Pharmacopoeia (EP Medium B). The medium can be incubated under aerobic or anaerobic conditions for sterility testing, air sampling and other areas of bacteriological investigation. This product is wrapped in barrier film to allow for use in Vaporised Hydrogen peroxide sterilisation systems. This particular product is triple wrapped and terminally sterilised by Gamma irradiation. Dose Range: 8.0 kGy - 15.0kGy
